This vintage ceremonial anthropomorphic spoon was collected in Nigeria and is possibly Koro in origin.
African figures in this form served as a container for palm wine or local beer during ritual ceremonies. They were also used during funerals, sacrifices and masked ceremonies.
The koro are primarily found in Nigeria, Benue River Valley region.
