Olumeye

'One who knows honour'

The Yoruba culture has a rich tradition of presenting kola nuts as a gesture of hospitality within households or as offerings to their deities during religious ceremonies. Guests were served from elaborately decorated wooden bowls. These special vessels are called Olumeye in reference to the kneeling female figure holding the bowl.
